Each category is a carefully curated collection of exactly 3 movies, ranked in order of how much I think you should watch them. The descriptions are... thorough.

No Baggage Just Feelings
Rom coms have a problem. Not the falling in love part, that's fine. The problem is the detour. You know the one. One half of the couple is already with someone, meets someone else, spends 90 minutes emotionally checked out while the audience is supposed to root for them. And somehow by the end, the original partner is the villain for not being perfect enough. I like romance. I don't like being asked to celebrate someone stringing two people along and calling it a love story. The movies in this category skipped that whole arc. The obstacle isn't a partner standing in the way. It's time, fear, circumstance, ego, or just the terrifying fact that feelings are complicated. That's more than enough. It always was. These are rom coms where the drama is real, nobody gets cheated on, and the love actually means something when it lands.

Deliciously good
Look, some movies just make you hungry. You're sitting there watching someone assemble the perfect bowl of ramen or grill a Cuban sandwich at 11pm and suddenly you hate yourself for not having planned better. So here's the idea: pick one of these, make the food, eat while you watch. A proper eat-along. Chef is obvious. Tampopo is a commitment but absolutely worth it. And Delicatessen... Actually. Maybe have a light snack for that one. These are three movies where food is the whole point. Not the backdrop, not a metaphor the director is very proud of. The actual point. One is warm and funny. One is obsessive and strange. And one is a French post-apocalyptic black comedy about a butcher who is very good at keeping his tenants fed. Bon appétit.

Fuck Romance, All Hail Bromance
Are you sick of every single movie trying to push a love interest into the plot because they fail to make their film interesting without it? Not because love is bad. Love is cool. Romance can be great. But it’s become the default shortcut, the easy solution when a movie doesn’t trust its story to stand on its own. Action, comedy, drama… somehow it all bends until it fits a couple by the end. Me? I like friendship. Friendship is cool too. Movies about people who stick around, grow together, and matter to each other without everything turning into a romance. And if that sounds refreshing, you’re in the right place.

The sports you never hear about
Some sports are relatively rare. Not because they don’t exist, but because nobody ever talks about them. This category isn’t about football, basketball, or anything you already know the rules of by accident. It’s about movies that throw you into a sport you’ve barely heard of (or never considered interesting) and somehow make you care anyway. You don’t watch these movies because you love the sport. You watch them because the movie does the hard work for you: explaining the rules, the culture, the obsession, and why it matters to the people involved. By the end, you’re emotionally invested in something you didn’t even know existed two hours ago. And honestly, that’s kind of the point.

The Jim FUCKING Carrey Category
Some actors act. Jim Carrey commits crimes against subtlety. This category is for when you want elastic-face chaos, emotional whiplash, and jokes that should not work but do. He is so good I can't choose "only 3 movies". He is the main reason for the presence of "Honorable Mentions" on this website. He is a genre. Deal with it.

Movies with a fuck ton of songs but is NOT a musical
Musicals are when characters sing to advance the story. This is not that. This is music everywhere because the world is loud: rehearsals, performances, dance floors, stages, garages. You’ll leave with songs stuck in your head without ever watching a “musical number”.

These movies are not “good”. They are “an event”. You don’t watch them quietly. You watch them with friends, snacks, and the understanding that you are here to witness chaos. You will laugh. You will suffer. You will quote lines you shouldn’t.

Rom-coms (but with problems)
Yes, it’s romance. No, it’s not simple. Sometimes the problem is existential. Sometimes the problem is time travel. Sometimes the problem is that they’re literally trying to kill each other. The point is: love is great. Life is messy. These movies don’t pretend otherwise.

Reality Is Not What You Think It Is
These movies look like reality for about five minutes. Then they politely remove the floor. Simulation. Identity. “What if everything you know is staged?” It’s the category for people who enjoy that specific kind of existential itch. Also a great way to ruin your ability to trust your own perception. Enjoy.
