A divorced or widowed man whose entire personality is “owns a flannel shirt and cuts down Christmas trees.” He is, of course, the town’s hot stuff. He can’t date. He’s too busy being a dad. His daughter will absolutely play matchmaker. This is not subtle. Hot chocolate will be consumed. Christmas cookies will solve a municipal crisis. The town will be saved. Love will occur exactly on schedule. Nothing bad will happen. Nothing surprising will happen. If your brain is tired and your expectations are on the floor, this is the warm beige blanket you’re looking for. That said, in this selection, I deliberately picked movies that add a small twist to the overused Hallmark formula. Nothing revolutionary - still good old feel-good Christmas comfort - but with that tiny extra something. The smidge of nutmeg in your usual cinnamon hot chocolate. Watch these when you want vibes, not stakes. Hot chocolate, not plot.
